A housebuilder has donated £1,500 to Winchester Hospice to provide patients with personalised art sessions.

Cala Homes (Thames) made the donation to the hospice to allow patients to create unique artwork to gift to their loved ones.

The initiative will give award-winning artist, Katy Rundle, the opportunity to work alongside patients to create legacy art projects.

The sessions aim to provide patients with a creative outlet to have fun and experiment with different mediums.

Jo Westerman, fundraising officer at Winchester Hospice, said: "On behalf of the patients and staff at the hospice, we’re extremely grateful for the donation Cala Homes has provided to support our art therapy sessions.

"This donation will support Katy, our artist in residence, who plans to work with patients in creating legacy art projects.

"Through these sessions her aim is simply to enrich lives, provide escapism and, most importantly of all, to have fun."

Alison Deakin, sales and marketing director at Cala Thames, said: "It’s a privilege to be a part of the Winchester Hospice's art programme and know that the donation is going to a wonderful cause.

"We’re dedicated to giving back to residents in our local area."
