THE jury is still out on the case of a man accused of sexual assault against nine alleged victims.

The 12 members of the jury have now been deliberating for around six hours on the charges brought against Jason Colbourne, 55. They were sent out to begin deliberations at midday on Thursday, September 12.

The trial is being held at Winchester Crown Court under the Recorder of Winchester  Judge Angela Morris.

In total, there are 13 different counts of sexual offences brought against Colbourne, including indecent exposure, sexual assault and threatening to rape alleged victims between April and September 2023.

Richard Whitcombe, prosecuting, has argued that Colbourne had a habit of touching people around the waist and on the bottom to "test" them as a way of seeing whether he could take the touching further, and that the defendant acted with sexual intent.

Colbourne, whose defence barrister is Chloe Jay, insists his behaviour was not sexual when he touched them, as it was his way of moving them aside.

Colbourne, of Wessex Lane, Swaythling, Southampton, remains on conditional bail as the jury deliberates on the case.

They will reconvene on Monday, September 16 at 10am.
