THE outgoing landlords of a Hampshire country pub have announced that their tenancy will end next month.
As previously reported, Mark and Chloe Newman announced that they would be stepping down from their positions at the Hampshire Bowman, at Dundridge near Bishop’s Waltham, after deciding they wanted more family time.
The couple announced in a post on Facebook that their tenancy at the pub comes to an end on Monday, October 14.
In the post, the pair say they intend to operate as normal throughout September. However, they will be operating a "wet only" pub from the beginning of October.

The pair explained: “The end of our tenancy is now only a few weeks away (14th October) and so I thought I’d give you all an update on what happens next…
“We intend to operate as close to normal throughout September, although the last week might be a little more tricky as most of our bar team head back to University on the 23rd.
“Our last day of serving food, and our last quiz night will be Monday 30th September.
“We will be “wet only” (just drinks) in October and may have to reduce our opening hours depending on how many staff we can retain into this period. Whilst some niche products might disappear from the fridges as they run out, we will maintain a pretty well-stocked bar with plenty of ale and cider to go around!
“We are confident that Mr. Scott has a buyer for the building and that they have potential tenants. We believe that the buyer wants The Hampshire Bowman to stay very much unchanged and that is why they are buying it. – You're a shining knight!

“At the moment everything is in the hands of solicitors so there is still plenty of scope for it to all get screwed up! We also have to hope that the new government don’t create a hostile environment in the Autumn statement.
“I have stated that I am prepared to keep the bar open past the end of our tenancy if that is what is required to keep the pub open whilst the lawyers talk and do “their thing".
“Thank you all for your custom over the years. Please give the new folks the time and support they will need to get through their first winter. Give them a chance, this is a tough gig, in a tough climate. Use your local or lose it.”
