A NEW independent bakery will open its doors in Winchester city centre next month.

The Cornish Bakery will be holding a grand opening on Monday, October 21. The bakery is taking over the unit previously occupied by fashion shop Phase Eight.

The new bakery will create 20 year-round local jobs, with plans to create a charity partnership with a local cause, to be selected by the staff.

Work is currently underway to get the site ready to open next month.

Alongside seating for 86 people at a time, the Cornish Bakery will contain a private party room for approximately eight people which can be booked in advance by groups of friends, families or colleagues for meetings, celebrations and functions.

This is a completely new concept for Cornish Bakery and the first of this kind for the company.
