PLANS to transform a closed cafe into a farm shop have been submitted to Winchester City Council.

Graham Collett, of Westlands Farm Shop, has applied to transform the closed Patisserie Valerie in Winchester High Street.

The proposal is to turn the site into a retail farm shop.

A pair of applications have been submitted to the city council, one detailing internal works to the site, and the other external works including signage.

According to a planning statement, the proposed internal works include removing a central stud wall, doors and toilet facilities which are surplus to requirements in several areas of the shop, as well as removing the existing flooring in the lower section of the building and replacing it with ceramic tiles.

Meanwhile, the second application relates to changing the signage of the shop, as well as adding a new awning and window vinyls.

As previously reported, Patisserie Valerie closed suddenly on January 1, New Years Day, when the business went through a “restructuring period”.

The shop was closed just six months after it underwent a refurbishment.
