Renowned jazz vocalist Jacqui Dankworth MBE will be performing at the Theatre Royal Winchester as part of an exciting line-up for the Winchester Jazz Festival.
The appearance is set for the evening of September 21, commencing from 7.30pm.
Dankworth, recognised for her remarkable vocal prowess across genres including not only jazz but also folk, soul, classical and blues, is set to present an intimate concert featuring tracks from her acclaimed studio albums.
There will also be music from her upcoming studio album, Windmills.
Accompanying Dankworth on the piano will be the noted US piano-vocalist, Charlie Wood.
The vocalist has previously performed with the likes of the Liverpool Philharmonic, the RTE Concert Orchestra, the London Sinfonietta, and the BBC Big Band.
She has also made appearances on TV’s The One Show and The Paul O’Grady Show, and on BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night Is Music Night.
In addition to this, Dankworth holds a reputation as an accomplished actor, having taken up major roles in the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre and venues all over London’s West End.
She was also seen in the film adaptation of Les Miserables which was helmed by Tom Hooper.
Her notable collaborations range from talented musicians such as Paloma Faith, Clare Teal, Gregory Porter, the London Symphony Orchestra to the legendary jazz pianist, Chick Corea.
The ongoing Winchester Jazz Festival is part funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund as part of the government's commitment to enhance local pride and improve life across the nation.
