SOUTHERN Water has appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court as part of a private prosecution.
The company attended a pre-trial hearing for the case on Friday, September 6.
The prosecution is being brought against the company by Fish Legal, a not-for-profit organisation that takes legal action to protect rivers on behalf of anglers.
The case concerns the dumping of sewage into the River Test in Hampshire.

The pre-trial hearing saw a judge set out the steps the parties will need to take in the lead-up to the trial, which will take place over four days in December.
Southern Water has previously pleaded not guilty to four charges of polluting the River Test.
George Graham, Chair of Fish Legal, said: “We can’t keep turning a blind eye while precious rivers like the Test keep getting polluted.”
