CYCLE Winchester has announced that its next mass cycle ride has been postponed after the group was “a victim of (its) own success”.
The mass ride was arranged to take place on Saturday, September 28.
However, the group has shared online that it is planning to postpone the event due to delays with marshalling agreements.
A post on the Cycle Winchester Instagram page says: “We had high hopes for another great Cycle Winchester Mass Ride on September 28th, but with great regret, we are postponing the event.

“Attendance at the 2023 ride outstripped our wildest expectations, with more than 400 riders filling the streets of Winchester.
“Unfortunately we are victims of our own success; the massive turnout raised questions about alternative marshalling arrangements. We’ve been working through these options with the relevant authorities, and although we are close to an agreement, the inevitable delays have put us behind schedule. We feel it’s better to offer a future event that meets our own high standards than rush to meet a deadline.
“The team is hatching plans for a 2025 Mass Ride in late spring, or early summer. Meanwhile, there may be an alternative, informal event on September 28. Watch cyclewinchester.org.uk and our social media for further news.”
