An 80-year-old woman and an 81-year-old man were sadly killed in a crash between two cars on the A303.

Officers were called at approximately 11.20am on Friday, September 6, to a report of crash on the westbound carriageway near Sutton Scotney.

It involved a gold/grey coloured Volvo XC40 and a white Toyota Aygo.

The two people who sadly died were the occupants of the Volvo, police said.

They were from Leicester. Police confirmed that their family have been informed and enquiries are ongoing.

The occupants of the Toyota sustained minor injuries.

The road remained closed for several hours following the crash, but it is reopened now.

Police are still appealing for witnesses of the crash.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "To assist our initial enquiries, officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision. We also want to hear from anyone who saw either of those two vehicles in the moments leading up to the collision.

"Anyone who believes they have any information or dash-cam footage which may assist us, however relevant you believe it to be, is asked to get in touch."
