A FOUR-STOREY house in Winchester city centre is to be auctioned this month with a guide price of £470,000-£490,000.
The end-terrace freehold property at 27 Eastgate Street is among 178 lots listed across southern England by Clive Emson Auctioneers.
It is a 19th century Victorian house that was owned by the city council for many years.
Many properties in Eastgate Street were acquired by the city council when the street was set to be redeveloped for inner-city ring road that never came to be built.
Mike Marchant, a senior auction appraiser in Hampshire for the regional land and property auction firm, who works in Whiteley, said: “The property is in the heart of Winchester, a short walk/drive from the historic centre.

“Previously used as temporary housing the accommodation is currently arranged as several bedsit/letting rooms and has vacant possession.
“Prospective purchasers may wish to reconfigure the accommodation, returning the layout to something more in keeping with a traditional family home.”
The auction will take place on September 18 and will include two other properties in Kings Worthy and Warnford.
