Critically acclaimed play, Black Is The Color Of My Voice, is set to return to Theatre Royal Winchester for a single evening.
The onstage drama tells the compelling story of notable singer and civil rights activist, Nina Simone, revealing her life journey from piano prodigy to renowned jazz vocalist.
The week night performance of this moving depiction of determination and survival, as named by The Times, is on September 16.
The one-woman show is the creation of award-winning writer, Apphia Campbell, performed by the talented Nicholle Cherrie, whose previous credits include London’s Regents Park Open Air Theatre and Shakespeare’s Globe plus work for the BBC.
Cherrie will perform many of Simone's most iconic songs live.
Black Is The Color Of My Voice has been performed around the globe, from New York to Shanghai and Australia, even bagging the 'Best Theatre Award' at this year's Adelaide Fringe.
It's also graced the stages of London’s West End and the Edinburgh festival.
The show is produced by James Seabright, responsible for several popular current productions.
Theatre Royal Winchester's performance is scheduled for 7.30pm with tickets and further information available at theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk, or via phone on 01962 840 440.
It's recommended for anyone aged twelve and over.
