The news report 'Student reconstructs Old Minster' (Hampshire Chronicle, August 22) highlights the potential of Newbury's work developing this new way of presenting multi-phase buildings, especially interestingly since he has applied it to Winchester's iconic Old Minster.

The image shown in your report of New Minster with Old Minster behind, was skilfully created by Simon Hayfield using the findings from Birthe and Martin Biddle's ground breaking excavations in the 1960s.

That illustration and many others, are contained in The Search for Winchester's Anglo-Saxon Minsters (Archeopress 2018).

This gem of a book is available via www.archeopress.com or from the usual sources. A book to treasure at only £15!
