HERE's the latest batch of Hampshire Chronicle heritage photographs. They include some very clear images from Stanmore taken in the late 1940s. The children in the photos would now be in their early 80s and who knows maybe some still live locally and will recognise themselves?
It is a privilege for Chronicle staff to be able to delve back into the past and capture this 'first draft of history.'
The photos are all available for public inspection at the Hampshire Cultural Trust base in Bar End, Winchester. Gone are the days when these photos were stored as negatives in boxes stacked in a cupboard at the Chronicle office in the High Street. The trust now has them and has digitised thousands of them with more to follow in due course.
