A ROMSEY artist recently held an event as part of the Hampshire Open Studios, to support a cancer charity.
Jennie Maizels, who pioneered the art method called The Maizels Method, held the event at the University Hospital Southampton in aid of Maggie’s Cancer Support.
Ms Maizels uses The Maizels Method at weekly classes for people who use Maggie's Cancer Support Centre.
The method is now part of a major research project at Winchester University's psychology department. It is a shortcut to becoming an artist and involves with a 'transfer' of some kind, followed by detailed directions to ensure that everyone can create a masterpiece to frame and hang in their home.

Ms Maizels recently gave a talk about it at the TEDx event in Winchester.
After the event on Monday, August 19, she said: “We were all so delighted with the opening of the exhibition. It is incredibly powerful for the attendees of Maggie’s Cancer Support Centre to see their paintings framed and proudly displayed.
“Friends and family were invited for drinks and nibbles to admire the wonderful work and to celebrate their achievements. It was a lovely happy and celebratory evening.”
