ROMSEY town centre will be filled with stalls as the food fair returns.

Romsey Food Fair will be on Sunday, September 1, and will have quality produce, artisan stalls, street food, tastings, brewers and distillers.

The event is organised by Romsey and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry; a local business organisation with members from Romsey and the surrounding areas.

Romsey Beggars Fair, which in July celebrated its 30th event in the town, is on board with three stages across the town showcasing bands.

The South Central Makers, the Romsey-based artisan makers market, have also partnered up with the event and will be situated in the lower end of The Hundred. In addition, Hampshire Farmers Market will frequent their monthly market space at the Alma Road car park.

Ali Fielder, president of Romsey and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: “This will be our third year managing the food fair and this year looks to outshine the previous years in its size and variety. We have over 85 stalls and will be taking over the town centre giving food lovers the chance to discover some of the finest produce the area has to offer. It’s easy to support the local community by visiting the Romsey Food Fair as not only will you be treated to the best independently sourced and made produce, but you will also be helping local farmers and businesses thrive.”

This year’s headline sponsor is Parker Bullen LLP. Karen Clarkson, its marketing and business development manager, said: “We are so pleased to be supporting the Romsey Food Fair again this year. The event in 2023 was incredible with an array of stalls from street food, honey, cider, champagne, cheese, cakes, pastries, tea and much more from local producers in and around Romsey, highlighting the diversity that makes our region such a special place to live and work. The sense of camaraderie among vendors and attendees alike was palpable, creating a vibrant atmosphere that was enhanced by the glorious weather."

Suzi Shilling, business, events and tourism officer at Romsey Town Council, said: “This is a great opportunity for local businesses and producers to come together with the community and enjoy a celebration of food, drink, music and artisan stalls. Romsey is a fantastic setting for this event being an historic market town, and we welcome visitors to ‘make a day of it’ and peruse our independent and high street shops and visitor attractions. To reduce traffic flow please try and use public transport as Romsey is accessible by train and buses. Parking is limited so please check the Food Fair website for alternative areas to park for the day.”

Sean Knight, general manager at The Cromwell Arms, which has a stall this year, said: “We are really looking forward to being a part of this year’s event, and showing off our speciality cuisine which is all locally sourced. We are so lucky to be situated in such a rich and vibrant area for producers, we hope to get some time away from the stand to go and visit the rest of the stalls and make new partnerships. We will also be supporting the Food Fair with free parking in the field behind us. So please come and visit us either at the Cromwell Arms or at our stand outside the town hall.”

Romsey Food Fair would like to thank supporting partners Bongo Creative, Ace Liftaway, Romsey Town Council and WDJP Media.
