Winchester writer Paul Howard Surridge recently concluded his sixth novel and thirteenth stage play.

The comedy play, revealed on January 10, is 'Murder and Marriage', revolving around Art Leadbetter, caught in constant disagreements with his adoptive mother.

Seemingly fed up, Art decides to end her life to grab hold of her assets. The narrative unfolds with Art's unsuccessful disposal attempts.

Mr Surridge said: "I’m lucky, I never struggle with material for storylines, the challenge is finding the time to complete and edit individual plays and then promote them to theatre companies.

"In recent weeks I have been in contact with a dozen or so amateur groups in Hampshire and adjoining counties, and so far, I have generated seven positive enquiries to arrange play-reading sessions with a view to staging the play in 2025, and one firm commitment from a group near Reading to stage the play this November."

Meanwhile, the completion of his novel, 'A Troubled Presidency', happened nearly simultaneously, which Surridge commenced writing 18 months ago.

It comments on the American political landscape and a seemingly disturbed President. Notably, the novel takes inspiration from the Trump era, clarified Surridge, but it isn't specifically about Trump.
