CIVIC chiefs have confirmed that work is still taking place on a pop-up park in the centre of Winchester.
As previously reported, the park, in Friarsgate, has been constructed as part of the Central Winchester Regeneration scheme, also known as Silver Hill.
The site has been constructed as a “meanwhile use” following the demolition of the Friarsgate Medical Centre earlier this year. It will leave the area a more pleasant place for people to go while wider plans are being drawn up for the site.
Winchester City Council has confirmed that the park is still not fully completed, with a new hoarding and additional flowers and seating still to be installed.

The council has also said that there is not a set completion date for the space, as it has been designed to be flexible so it can be used for various different events and activities.
As an example of this, Winchester City Council is hosting a family archaeology event at the pop-up park on Thursday, August 29.
The event will offer a range of activities for all ages, including cleaning artifacts, touring the dig site, meeting with archaeologists and more.
The family fun day will run from 10am to 2pm, and is free to attend with no booking needed. Anyone wanting to volunteer to take part in the community excavation should visit the Pre-Construct Archaeology website and sign up.
