AN annual show celebrating country life is returning to Romsey.
The Romsey Show, on Saturday, September 14, will be taking place at Broadlands and is organised by The Romsey Agricultural and Horse Show Society.
Entertainment for all the family, the show is a celebration of country life and the local community – rural displays, equine and livestock classes.
A food zone and main ring attractions have been organised to entertain visitors from 8am to 6pm.
The president’s main ring displays include carnival show band the Romsey Old Cadets and returning to show for the first time in more than 30 years is the coaching class and marathon, featuring prestigious coaches pulled by teams of four horses.

Several of the Coachmen attending have featured in the Netflix hit series Bridgerton, including the production's Head horseman. All-time favourites including the heavy horse turnout and classic vehicle parade will be returning to the ring. Finally, visitors can cheer on Hampshire Young Farmers taking part in the Young Farmers Challenge.
For 2024 only, the show has a special D-Day themed marquee to celebrate the role which Broadlands, Romsey and southern Hampshire played in the invasion 80 years ago. The marquee will house pop-up museums and exhibits from local organisations and history enthusiasts as well as hosting talks throughout the day. Finally, the show will close with a D-Day 80 sunset parade including military personnel and WW2 vehicles. The show is asking anyone from Hampshire with any recollections from D-Day to send these to the show office to be included in a memory wall which will be displayed on the day.
Other attractions located across the showground include floral art, falconry, the Skills Kitchen featuring top local chefs, and the famous sheep show.
Extreme Bike Battle, the UK’s premium action stunt team, will be back for a second year. There are plenty of activities for children including the fun fair, Scotty’s Circus Skills and My Little Explorers with the forest school area.
Dogs on leads are welcome, there are plenty of canine activities including a scurry and the family dog show, taking place in the countryside area. There will also be a wide array of trade stands to wander round, live music from the organisers of the Beggars Fair, local beers, ciders and food, as well as plenty of animals to admire.
