A WINCHESTER man has been ordered not to drink for 92 days after damaging a police van in the High Street.

Christopher White, 36, of Stuart Crescent,  Stanmore, damaged the police van, assaulted a member of the public and used abusive language on February 4, a court heard.

White pleaded guilty to all three charges and was ordered to adhere to an alcohol abstinence and monitoring programme when he appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates' court. 

The period for which White will have to avoid drinking is almost exactly three months.
