It's official, Boomtown 2024 is over.

The last five days have been nothing short of crazy, and I've loved every moment. I didn't know entirely what to expect when I first arrived, but having left this morning (Monday 12), I can say I already miss the world of Boomtown.

Sunday was the hottest day yet, and somehow I avoided any sunburn. I spent a huge portion of the day outside, taking in the last of the music and ultimately spending most of my time at Origin.

After a morning of writing, I went for a last explore in the city, where I was targeted many times by water pistols by passers by (I had no complaints - it was so hot). As I neared the cinema, a protest was taking place - I wasn't sure entirely what was going on but I knew that it was to do with the Boomtown storyline.

In the afternoon, I enjoyed various sets at Origin, but my favourite was at Grand Central - the Earth, Wind and Fire experience. The tribute band, by Al McKay, was the highlight of the week for me. As I mentioned in a previous round up, I love hearing instruments live on stage, and this performance did not disappoint.

Everyone in the audience was smiling and dancing, and it was definitely something different to what had been performed so far. It was an all round good feeling to be with everyone dancing along to those songs, and I'm beyond glad not to have missed it.

I had a pizza on the hilltop with a friend to take in the last of the iconic views of Boomtown as the sun set.

After a short rest, I ventured back down to the city to see Pendulum, before the closing ceremony. The ceremony was spectacular, using pyrotechnics that looked like fireworks to fill the sky with colour, and a crowd that was unbelievably huge.

As soon as the clock struck midnight, Boomtown 2024 was officially over. If you get the opportunity, and want to visit a festival where you will leave the real world for five days, I urge you to book tickets for 2025. I will be back.
