A new leaflet showcasing creatives and makers has been released by Visit Winchester.

The leaflet is part of the Made in Winchester campaign and aims to highlight art studios and galleries participating in Hampshire Open Studios.

This is an annual event taking place from August 17 to August 26.

The Winchester district art trail leaflet is free and gives details of more than 40 art studios and galleries open for visitation.

The locations are in Winchester, market towns, and villages in the surrounding district.

The initiative, commissioned by Visit Winchester, was created by Hampshire Open Studios and funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Councillor Lucille Thompson, Winchester City Council’s cabinet member for business and culture, said: "There are so many talented local makers, producers, independent businesses and creatives across our district.

"Many are tucked away down a side street or nestled in the back garden of someone’s home, and this Winchester District Art Trail will be a hugely valuable guide to locating them and finding out more about their work."

Lesley Self, creative director of Hampshire Open Studios, said: "Collaborating this year with Visit Winchester is a fantastic opportunity for artists to showcase their work across the district.

"We encourage visitors to try out this new trail, take a day out, and see some of the best artistic talents the region has to offer."

Trail leaflets will be available from the Visitor Information Centre and other public venues across Winchester.

Artists will also have copies, and a digital version will be accessible on the Visit Winchester website.

It is hoped that the initiative will help boost footfall in the artist studios and galleries around the district.
