A LANDMARK moment has been reached as the last sign of a former department store has been removed.
MCS Construction has been transforming the former Debenhams store in Winchester High Street since last October.
The last remnants of the shop, which closed in 2021, was replaced with wooden boards next to St Maurice's Covert to match the rest of the shop. The letters have been removed.

It's being converted into three units with Nando's and Five Guys confirmed and the third rumoured to be Pizza Express.
Earlier the year, the Chronicle had the opportunity to look inside the unit to get a glimpse of what it was like in the 19th century as Sherriff & Ward.
Site manager Mark Townsend said that the old Debenhams letters would not be thrown away.
