A HAMPSHIRE man has been given a suspended sentence for injuring someone while driving carelessly in Winchester.
Tahir Rafiq, 36, of Exmoor Road, Southampton, was driving a Toyota Auris in Bar End Road on March 3, 2023, when he caused serious injury to Julia Clyne, a court heard.

Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, June 8, Rafiq pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention.
On Tuesday, August 6, magistrates sentenced him to 16 weeks imprisonment, suspending the sentence for 12 months.
He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months and must pay a £154 victim surcharge and £85 costs. The total amount of £239 must be paid in full by September 5, ordered the magistrates.
