A WINCHESTER man has been slapped with a community order after pleading guilty to committing assault and criminal damage.

Christopher White, 36, of Stuart Crescent, Stanmore, assaulted Jack Leslie Scott Allen in Winchester High Street on Sunday, February 4 after using abusive and threatening words towards him, a court heard.

Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 18, White pleaded guilty to the offences, as well as causing £50 worth of damage to a police van – also on February 4 - and failing to attend court at the appointed time on Thursday, March 21.

On Thursday, August 1, magistrates at Basingstoke gave White a community order.

He is to be monitored abstaining from alcohol for 92 days until October 31. He must also comply with any instructions of a responsible officer to attend appointments or to participate in any activity as required for up to 10 days.

White must also pay £150 compensation. According to the court record, this will be deducted from his benefits and must be paid in full by August 29.
