A WINCHESTER mum has organised some sponsored walks to raise money to get an autism assistance dog for her son.
As previously reported, Emily Lowndes, of Kings Barton, launched a fundraiser to raise money for a four-legged friend to help her seven-year-old son Stefan.
Stefan, who has autism, struggles with going to new places and changes in routine which can lead to heightened anxiety and meltdowns.
Emily believes that an assistance dog could help Stefan’s anxiety and boost his confidence levels. He already qualifies to have an assistance dog, with the family working to raise the £12,000 needed to have one provided through Autism Dogs Charity.

The family are close to their fundraising target, with Emily arranging a pair of sponsored walks to get them over the finish line.
The walks will take place on Saturday, August 10, and Sunday, August 25 at South Wonston Park. The walks will start at 3pm on both days.
Those who take part in the walks are invited to bring food and drink and join Emily, Stefan and their family for a picnic afterwards. There will also be an ice-cream van in attendance.
