HENRY Beaufort School in Winchester will be hosting the 60th anniversary edition of the all time favourite current affairs radio programme Any Questions?
The first Any Questions? was broadcast from Winchester on October 12, 1948, and this anniversary edition will be broadcast live on Friday evening, October 10.
This edition also coincides with the first week back at parliament after the summer recess so it will be an opportunity for the community to participate in some lively political debate.
The programme currently attracts 1.5 million listeners every week.
The chairman of Any Questions? is Jonathan Dimbleby and the panel will consist of distinguished figures from politics, journalism, arts, science business and other areas of public life.
One confirmed member of the panel for October 10 is Baroness Shirley Williams.
The programme is keen to encourage participation from the public who will play a positive role in the broadcast, think about topical issues beforehand and contribute useful questions, bearing in mind the events of that week and the interests of the panel.
As the programme is broadcast to a UK wide audience, questions based on purely local issues are unlikely to be chosen unless they raise matters of genuine national interest.
Tickets to Any Questions? are free and the minimum age limit for audience members is 14.
The public can apply by contacting the school direct by e-mail: community@beaufort.hants.sch.uk or calling The Henry Beaufort School Community Office on 01962 888970.
*Do you recall the first broadcast 60 years ago? Were you in the audience? If you were, contact the Chronicle on 01962 833146. Also, you can add your comments and memories of the show below.
