WORK on a major redevelopment project in Alresford is due to start later this year.
As previously reported, Metis Homes received unanimous approval from Winchester City Council to demolish three industrial units at The Dean and build 14 flats and a 40-space public car park.
The proposal includes access, parking, cycle storage, refuse storage, landscaping and other associated works.
The scheme was approved on Wednesday, July 17.
Metis Homes has said that development will start later this year, but has not specified a date when construction will begin.

Mike Burton, land director at Metis Homes, said: “We are pleased to have received a unanimous approval for this planning application in Alresford, following amendments to our original submission. This new apartment scheme will deliver much-needed new homes for this area, ideal for those looking to downsize, as well as essential public parking for the town centre.
“We would like to thank Winchester City Council for their cooperation and support, but also our land and planning team at Metis Homes, and any external parties who helped us prepare this application.”
The 14 flats will be arranged throughout a two and three storey building, divided into two areas.
Pedestrian access will be provided through the centre, with separate access to the public car park behind the apartment building. New planting and landscaping will be created throughout.
New industrial units are due to be built as part of the Sun Lane development on the other side of the town.
