A GIFT and lifestyle shop in Romsey has relaunched.
Fig & Fox, in The Hundred, has added another floor of shopping, a courtyard garden and cafe service.
The independent business is run by husband and wife team Helen and James Mitchell.
The couple opened the Romsey shop in 2022 and have since opened a branch in Basingstoke and secured a month long residency at the Winchester Christmas Market. Fig & Fox features a collection of gifts, plants, cards and homeware, all handpicked by Helen and James.
Most products come from local, independent suppliers and artists with the majority being produced in the Fig & Fox studio.
The shop closed for two days at the start of July to allow for the refurbishment works. The windows were covered in brown paper and teasing posters.

The paper came down and the shop re-opened on July 12, a day before Romsey’s popular Beggars Fair event. The retail space now extends to the first floor and features a homeware and children’s gifting section. The rear car park was converted to ‘The Secret Garden’, an oasis of calm in the town centre boasting seating for 20 people.
The garden also includes the Fig & Fox vintage horse box trailer which is used to serve drinks during events. The shop counter was extended to include a hot filled bagels counter which has already proved to be a hit with customers.
Additional seating areas have been added throughout the space providing cosy corners to sit and relax, and first floor window seats that allow people to sip coffee and watch over the town centre.
Local coffee, tea and hot chocolate are served alongside a full menu of soft drinks, smoothies and bakes straight from the Fig & Fox kitchen. The counter also includes a soft serve ice cream counter from Marshfield Farm.
The new menu also features an array of alcoholic options including beer from local brewery Flacks, cider from Lilley’s and a selection of cocktails.
Fig & Fox celebrated the new look with a Beggars Fair party on July 13. The garden was filled to the brim, featuring live music and a cocktail bar.
Helen said: “Since opening in 2022, customers have raved about our coffee but asked for more seating, we are thrilled to finally offer a variety. We have been careful not to take away from our retail offering which is at the core of our business. The addition of the outside space not only offers more seating but it’s a great sun trap and hideaway from the hustle and bustle of day to day life.”
Fig & Fox is excited to announce its next event on August 31 with headliner Tom Martin. Full details of upcoming events can be found on the Fig & Fox social media channels: @figandfoxdesign.
