As schools break up for summer, children are invited to experience the famous Very Hungry Caterpillar trail at Marwell Zoo.
The celebrated children's story comes alive in the historic 140-acre park, home to more than 140 species of rare and endangered animals.
The trail provides an interactive journey through large 3D fruit and offers memorable photo opportunities against the zoo backdrop.
Geared towards young children, the path conveniently loops around the front of the park, suitable for little legs, leaving the rest of the park free for longer explorations.
Interesting facts about insects, including their leg structure and temperature regulation, can be discovered.
Additional creative activities such as nature necklace craft sessions and face painting are available daily from 11am to 3pm and Monday to Thursday 11am to 3pm respectively, at an extra cost.
The park houses a variety of creatures from penguins to white rhinos, as well as five adventure playgrounds and the historical Marwell Hall.
Their resident critters, including Partula snails and vampire crabs, are a must-visit.
In-depth information about native butterflies and insects is accessible at various points around the zoo.
The Science and Learning Centre will be open every Wednesday and Friday from 11am to 3pm for those interested in learning about animal digestion.
