Newly elected Winchester MP, Danny Chambers, is encouraging locals to support homeless efforts by donating unused clothing to Emmaus Hampshire.
The Liberal Democrat MP said: "I've seen first-hand the transformative impact Emmaus has on individuals in our community. Their model of providing purpose through work, alongside accommodation, is truly inspiring.
"The superstore in Bar End is now Winchester’s best-kept fashion secret. So, I’m encouraging local residents to dig out those old quality clothes, donate them to Emmaus and help find a long-term solution to homelessness."
Fresh from their victory at the Winchester Business Awards, Emmaus has increased its clothing section in the Winchester store.
Welcoming the MP’s support, Nigel Samuels, CEO of Emmaus Hampshire, said: "We're delighted to have Danny championing our cause. At Emmaus Hampshire, we believe in giving people a hand up, not just a handout.
"Through our social enterprises we're able to support ourselves and give people who have experienced homelessness the dignity of work. The donations of clothes we receive from local people help fund this work and help protect the environment too."
Clothes can be donated at the Bar End store, or at Emmaus shops in Eastleigh and Southampton.
