Taylor Swift, Willy Wonka and the Hungry Caterpillar took to the streets of a Hampshire village in a wheelbarrow race. 

Competitors filled Winchester Street, Overton, with their creatively decorated wheelbarrows on Friday, July 19. 

The baking heat didn't put off the competitors as they raced through 30C heat in front of the crowds. 

Costumes included a mobile disco, the Paris Olympics, lifeguards, and Alice in Wonderland.

A pirate ship took to the street of OvertonA pirate ship took to the street of Overton (Image: Newsquest) The race began at 7.30pm Pound Lane, competitors then made their way along Winchester Street and along Bridge Street to the finish line at Overton Recreation Centre. 

Once the race was over, competitors and onlookers enjoyed a marquee with disco and bar until 11pm.

The Greyhound, The Old House at Home, The OMI, The White Hart, The Red Lion & Overton Social Club donated beers towards the event, Yum Yum kept everyone fed.
