AN END of school party for families at The Plough Inn, Sparsholt was due to be held this week. The celebration of the last day of term on Tuesday, July 23, was set to include horse riding, live music, garden games and plenty of ice cream.

THE Worthys Local History Group will unveil their latest History Board on Tovey Place in Kings Worthy (just off Ramsay Road) on Friday, July 26, at 4pm. It will be sited opposite the notice board detailing the Roman field and mosaic. All are welcome to attend to celebrate the group’s sixth board.

SPARSHOLT Parish Council will be holding a meeting in the village’s Memorial Hall. Among the items up for discussion will be a proposed dog run at Crab Wood on Sarum Road. The site, proposed by Hampshire County Council is aimed to provide more space in the area for dog walkers. The meeting begins at 7.30pm. AN ILLUSTRATED talk telling the story of a young paratrooper during the Falklands War is being held at Littleton Millenium Memorial Hall on Saturday, July 27. Peter Osbourne, a Falklands veteran, will recount his experience and donate the money raised to Combat Stress, a veterans' mental health charity. The event will begin with drinks and nibbles at 5pm, with the talk beginning at 5.30pm. Tickets are £12 and the deadline for reserving a place is July 19. A “TEA and Fizz Garden Party” will take place this summer in Itchen Abbas. There will be a raffle at this event at Itchen Abbas and Avington Village Hall on Thursday, August 15. Tickets are £17.50 and anyone interested should contact Cynthia Mariner at cynthiaannmariner@icloud.com.

EASTON and Martyr Worthy Cricket Club are holding a tug of war, juniors' cricket game and barbecue on Thursday, July 25. All are welcome at this summer event, which will begin at 6pm. 

THE Worthys music festival returns this year to Eversley Park, Kings Worthy. Promising to be “bigger and better than before”, the event will take place on September 14. The local bands performing will include Flaxen Hill, Dave and We’re Not Worthy. Ukulele music, jazz and classical are a few of the genres on offer, with The Hyde Quartet set to “posh it up” between the more lively acts. Alfred’s Brewery will provide beer and there will be street food along with an array of refreshments. The Winchester Sport and Social Club will also open its bar to the public. SAVE the date for a car boot sale which will take place at Easton Village Hall and recreation ground. On Sunday, September 22, members of the public will be able to browse a wide array of items from 1pm until 4pm.

A JAZZ concert will take place at Crawley Village Hall. "Jazz in the Village" will feature Ian Miller on saxophone and Dominic Miller on piano. The event begins at 7pm on Friday, September 13. Tickets are £20 and include a meal. Drinks will also be available at the bar.
