A HAMPSHIRE town twinning group recently celebrated Bastille Day with a game of petanque.
Michelmersh and Timsbury Twinning Association hosted the afternoon's game on Sunday, July 14 at the village sports ground and club house.
Petanque is a French game similar to boules. In petanque the objective is to score points by having boules closer to the target than the opponent after all boules have been thrown. The game is normally and best played on hard dirt or gravel. It can be played in public areas in parks or in dedicated facilities called boulodromes.

The weather was bright, warm and sunny on July 14 with people enjoying a BBQ after the game.
It was an exciting finish, with one of the visitors eventually winning the prize together with the association’s ‘Beret’ and engraved trophy cup being presented to Giorgio Petretic by the association’s chairman, Chris Foulger.
