HERE is the latest batch of photos from the archive of the Hampshire Chronicle.

We have the answer to the mystery of one of the photos. Several readers have contacted us to give us information about the photo of the model steam train. It was taken at Southdowns, the National Children's Home in Old Alresford. It operated until the 1990s when it was converted into flats.

Other photos show events at the bastion of Winchester community life: the cathedral. Several photos were taken outside the cathedral and also in the Deanery Garden which is in The Close.

As always any information about the photos is gratefully received. Apologies fo the complete lack of any detail on the group photo. Perhaps a reader recognises a father or grandfather or uncle?

The photos are held at the Hampshire Cultural Trust in Bar End.
