STAFF and members from Bramshaw Golf Club have raised more than £50,000 for charity.

The participants took part in the annual longest golf day challenge, raising money for this year’s captain’s charities, MNDA, Cancer Research UK and the Disabled Golf Association.

Rob Barrington, this year’s men’s captain, said: “We are delighted to have been able to work together to hit the £50,000 mark in our seventh year of fundraising.

“Playing golf for this length of time is never easy, but it is always fun especially when we have so many great people from the club involved.”

The team of eight golfers started their longest-day challenge at 5.30am and played for 15 hours.

Members supported the team, which included general manager Molly Pavey, along the way.

She said: “The charities that we are supporting this year are really important to a lot of our members, so it is great to see them getting behind the challenge.  I don’t think people realise how hard it is to play for this long!

“I think I’ve probably hit my ball around two thousand times today!”

Molly said: “It was great to see members involved in all areas of the club taking part, whether that was playing or supporting us on the golf course.

“It was fantastic to be a part of it alongside our men’s captain, interclub league players and members of staff. We’re already looking forward to next year.”
