Adult readers in Winchester who struggle to read or never learnt to read were recently recognised with certificates at an award ceremony.
The ceremony, which was held at St Peter’s Church in Jewry Street, also included those in the surrounding area who have been learning with Read Easy.
Read Easy Winchester, part of a nationwide charity supporting those over 18 who struggle to read or who have never learnt to read, offered free, one-to-one coaching by volunteers.

Guests included Cllr Russell Gordon-Smith, mayor of Winchester and his wife, lady mayoress Dinah Ashcroft.
The mayor said it was during his time as deputy mayor that he became aware of Read Easy's work and once he became mayor, he wanted to learn more the programme.
He commended learners for seeking help and lauded their determination to overcome literacy challenges.
Winner certificates, acknowledging different stages of completion of the course, were issued by local award-winning author and Read Easy Winchester's patron, Claire Fuller.
