A chamber choir has revealed its new musical director.
The Wessex Chamber Choir in the South West has appointed Oliver Tarney.
He was previously head of academic music at Winchester College, and is currently assistant director of music at Tiffin School.
Mr Tarney brings a range of skills, as he also specialises in conducting and composition.
His choral works have been performed worldwide and he is published by Oxford University Press.
Notably, his talent has been recognised by groups, such as the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, and Ora Singers.
Chairman of the choir, Simon Thorn, shared a positive statement about this appointment, expressing high hopes for the choir's future.
He said: "Oliver brings a wealth of musical knowledge and experience to the Wessex. We are delighted to have been able to attract someone with his talent and enthusiasm.
"We really look forward to developing our ecclesiastical and secular repertoire further under his guidance."
The choir often performs at major cathedrals as a visiting choir.
Recent and future venues include Winchester, Worcester and St Edmundsbury cathedrals and St George’s Chapel Windsor.
They also frequently perform at parish churches and other locations in the South West.
