Rainbows from Hampshire West had a fantastic time at Longdown Activity Farm over the weekend.
The outing saw the young girl guides interacting hands-on with various animals — such as bottle-feeding kid goats and calves, holding chicks, and feeding ducks.
Not only this, but they also got the chance to meet donkeys, alpacas, chicks, goats, pigs and cows.
The day was packed with outdoor adventures as well, including bouncing on trampolines, riding on tractors, sliding down zip wires, and even a bumpy tractor ride that prompted lots of laughter.
Amber, one of the rainbows, said: "I don't want to go home, I’ve having such a great time, I really enjoyed holding the chicks."
Claire, a rainbow leader said: "We had such a wonderful time on the farm today. We love having the opportunity to attend these special trips, they make for a really exciting day out."
A Girlguiding Hampshire West badge was also specially created to commemorate the trip.
Girlguiding is the UK’s largest female-only youth organisation, and it aims to offer a wide range of experiences and opportunities for girls and young women across the country.
In Hampshire West alone, nearly 500 girls are currently on the waiting list.
In light of this, the organisation is calling for new volunteers – just one or two hours a week could make a huge difference.
Whether chaperoning a once-in-a-lifetime trip, helping girls learn new skills, or sharing in an exciting outdoor adventure, volunteering is flexible and accommodating to individual lifestyles.
Plus, all necessary training and support are provided, making it accessible for all.
