A CHARITY is urging people to show their support at their coffee morning.
Local family support charity Home-Start Winchester is holding its fundraising coffee morning at Rick Stein’s Winchester restaurant on Friday, July 12 from 9.30am.
Coffee and cake will be available for just a fiver, with definitely no fishcakes on the menu, all served by the Stein’s team, to help boost the charity’s fundraising efforts.
“We are so grateful to Rick Stein,” said Home-Start Winchester’s events chairman Chrissie Barlow.
“It is a very generous gesture on behalf of the famous restaurateur and we were bowled over when they agreed to have us back for a coffee morning in support of Home-Start.
“We are increasingly reliant on donations from supporters, sponsorship from local businesses and our own fundraising to support our work with struggling families and must raise over 90% of our annual income each and every year, which is why we so appreciate this kind gesture.
“We hope that all our friends and their families will call in to Rick Stein’s and enjoy coffee and cake with us to support our work in Winchester and the surrounding villages.”
Home-Start Winchester supports young families who are struggling with issues like disability of a parent or child, mental health issues, homelessness, lone parenting, isolation or unemployment. Families are referred by GPs, health visitors and social workers and these families are supported in the home by weekly visits of trained Home-Start volunteers.
