SOUTH Wonston Parish Council has replaced the popular wooden rotary swing in the play park at the sports and recreation ground, with an updated version now installed following feedback. The vintage horse has also been removed from the play park to undergo refurbishment, with a new tractor to be installed before the summer holidays and hopes that the zip wire will also soon be back in operation.

The tennis courts are now in full operation, and the new water fountain is expected to be ready by next week.

THE next Sunday Serenity Session with Vinyasa with Vikki and Sound Caim will be held on Sunday, July 21 at South Wonston Pavillion. Lasting from 6pm to 8pm, the event consists of a 1 hour long Vinyasa flow yoga session followed by a 40 minute sound session. WONSTON Fete will take place on Saturday, July 13. The event will be held at The Old House, Wonston, from 1pm to 4.30pm. There will be a range of attractions, including traditional games and stalls, a grand draw, dog show and more. Entry cost £2 per adult and £1 per child. Free parking is available and the event is cash only.

THE Half Moon and Spread Eagle in Micheldever is holding a quiz night on Tuesday, July 16. The quiz starts from 8pm. To book, call the pub on 01962 774150 or visit its website.

The pub has also announced that it will no longer be opening on Mondays from July 8 for the foreseeable future. The pub will be open as normal the rest of the week.

THE Micheldever Fete will be returning on Saturday, July 20 at the Lord Rank Playing Field. The fete will open at 1pm and will feature a range of stalls for all ages including bric a brac, plants, tombola, spirits, children’s games, books, bottles and more. There will also be a tea tent, beer tent and barbeque.

The arena will feature a dog show that will have one entry for younger participants involving a bit of fun and a more demanding entry for high grade judging with prizes to be won. Also, in the arena there will be traditional family competitions - mum and dad in the three legged race, sack races and more.

THE next Wonston Community Café will be at the Victoria Hall, Sutton Scotney, from 9.30am to 12noon on Wednesday, July 17. This month it will be supporting the Church Pantry Food Bank which is now open in the shed adjacent to The Coach & Horses pub. It offers non-perishable foods and hygiene products at no cost to those who need help in providing for themselves or their family with no referral required. Donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries for the Pantry will also be collected at the hall on the morning of the café. The café has plenty of free parking and is cash only.

There will be no café in August while volunteers take some time off.
