A couple at a Compton care home have recently celebrated almost eight decades of marriage.
Lena and Bruce, both 99, who live at Shawford Springs Care Home, recently celebrated their phenomenal 75-year marriage.
Having wed in 1949, they advise "being kind and patient" is the secret to a long and happy marriage.
Friends and family joined the joyous festivities at the care home, complete with a special cake the couple got to cut, reminiscent of their wedding day three-quarters of a century ago.
Among the multitude of well-wishes, King Charles and his Queen Camilla sent heartfelt congratulatory notes.
Shawford Springs, managed by Barchester Healthcare, the UK’s major care provider, offers personalised care to 64 residents, including expert dementia care for both short respite and long term stays.
The nonagenarian lovebirds certainly made their mark with this rare diamond anniversary.
General manager, Cassie Munnoch at Shawford Springs said: "We have had such a lovely day celebrating Lena and Bruce’s anniversary. It’s so wonderful to see two people still very much in love after all these years!"
