These are the final words from the Winchester election candidates before we all head to the polls.
Residents across the district will head to the polls to vote for one of six candidates on Thursday, July 4.
Nine candidates are standing for election and vying for votes on July 4.
Conservative MP Steve Brine has represented the constituency since 2010 but confirmed he would be standing down once an election was called. Replacing him as the conservative candidate is former Meon Valley MP, Flick Drummond.
In Winchester, the candidates in alphabetical order, are: Independent, Chris Barfoot; Liberal Democrat, Danny Chambers; Independent, Kevin D'Cruze; Social Democratic Party, Andrew Davis; Labour, Hannah Dawson; Conservative, Flick Drummond; Green, Lorraine Estelle; Hampshire Independents, Andy Liming; and Reform UK, Sean Whelan
Andrew Davis - Social Democratic Party
I am a realist but please do not think that a vote for me is a wasted vote. If you feel unrepresented by the main political parties and want to see an end to the current shambolic system, you can change that only by voting for someone like me. What I can assure you is that I am not a professional politician. You would get someone who has seen a lot of life and who has nearly 40 years experience of in management in both the public and private sectors. It would be a vote for sound government.
Chris Barfoot - Independent
There are 560 constituencies, that’s 560 MPs. Whomsoever is running this country in July, it really doesn’t matter- so long as you have somebody you can trust to fight for you and yours. Choose somebody who will look after you! If you choose me- I will not allow you to be trampled upon ever again. My pledge to you is to protect you and serve you- with honour!
Party-policy will always put you second… this is treachery.
I will shake the hands of other parliamentarians and gain us favour.
A vote for me… is a vote for you.
Lorraine Estelle - Green Party
We are currently dealing with a critical dual challenge: the escalating cost of living and the imminent danger to our environment. Despite the pressing need, governments have not acted swiftly enough to tackle the climate crisis that endangers the Winchester area and our livelihoods. The path to solving the climate crisis is the same as the path to ending the cost-of-living crisis, paving the way for a future that is fairer, more secure, and more liveable. By voting for the Green Party, the residents of Winchester can take a stand for a secure and happy future on a safe and sustainable planet.
Hannah Dawson - Labour
I'm a powerful and passionate voice who has a plan to make Winchester’s future brighter. Only a Labour Government can bring the change that people all over Winchester are crying out for. If elected, I’ll be a strong and indefatigable advocate for Winchester in the Houses of Parliament, ensuring our constituencies' needs are understood, represented, and acted upon. I know how Government works, having worked at the centre of Government as a civil servant earlier in my career, and have the knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to to hit the ground running and deliver for our community.
Sean Whelan, Rerform UK
The people of this country have simply had enough, The situation now is beyond serious and we need to repair our country in order for it to become a country of opportunity and hope. All the Parties offer change however Reform UK is the only party that offers real change. Why should you vote for me?
1. I will be the strong voice and represent you with Calrity Brevity and Impact
2. I will fight to maintain our essential values and protect our constituency and its residents
3. I will work tirelessly to protect Winchester whilst making it a better place I will always be your voice in parliament it's not about me, it's about you.
Danny Chambers, Flick Drummond, and Andy Liming were all contacted by the Hampshire Chronicle but did not reply.
Kevin D'Cruze - Independent
People should vote for me as I am an Independent and not associated in any way with the corruption and sleaze in Parliament.
I am also a local candidate and live in Bishops Waltham and know Winchester well having worked for a Housing Association and also in Mental health for over 15 years. I am also retired and know what it’s like to live in a meagre State pension…and understand the needs of local people.
Danny Chambers, Flick Drummond, and Andy Liming were all contacted by the Hampshire Chronicle but did not reply.
