THE Hampshire Chronicle photographic archive contains thousands of images from the past.
They show the county at work and at play as these images show. Back in the day the phone network was part of the Post Office and the room full of operators show how many people were employed in the business of helping people to talk to each other.
A photographer captured a teenager at the then-Peter Symonds Grammar School in Winchester taking part in the high jump in an athletics competition.
The photos are being looked after by Hampshire Cultural Trust at its base in Bar End on the edge of Winchester.
