The Tesco petrol station in Winnall was forced to close due to a blocked drainage system.

The Chronicle understands that the fuel pumps have been closed since Thursday, June 20.

A CGS tanker was spotted at the petrol station at around 2.30pm on Friday, June 21.

Customers were not able to fill up their vehicles for more than 24 hours, but Tesco insisted that the station would be operating normally again by the evening on Friday,

Drainage issues impacting delivery were behind the closure, Tesco confirmed. 

A spokesperson for the supermarket said: “An issue with the drainage outside our Winchester Extra store meant that we were unable to safely deliver fuel to our petrol station.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and are hoping to be able to deliver fuel to the site this evening once the issue is resolved."
