Whilst the appointment of Andrew Lucas may well be one of an excellent cathedral musician it is not the answer to the cathedral’s woes.
I fear that the Dean and Chapter believe that all will now be well and that no more action need be taken; people will soon forget and life in the cathedral will return to the status quo.
This cannot be the case. All will not be well until the Dean and Chapter take responsibility for the sad demise of the cathedral’s music community and face up to its duty to look after and safeguard all its staff and volunteers.
This means a change of guard at the Dean and Chapter and an openness to all, that does not presently exist. Try making a negative comment (not rude) on social media and you will find your comment has been declined.
Dean and Chapter, apologise and look to your conscience.
