THE Bishop's Waltham Festival is fast approaching.
The series of events, in the grounds of Bishop's Waltham Place, will be held from June 28-30. 
This year they have a vast array of events including Festival Ceilidh, live outdoor theatre performances with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and The Importance of Being Earnest. 
The ceilidh will be held on Friday, June 28 at 7pm with music from Jigfoot and Tom Gregory as caller. Tickets cost £15 for adults, £8 for 13-17-year-olds and under 13s with an adult go free. 
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz will be on Sunday, June 30, starting at 1.30pm. Adults cost £14, five-15-year-olds £9 and a family of four costs £40.

PLANS are well underway for the Swanmore Village Fete.
It's organised by the Meon Valley Lions and will be held on Saturday, July 13 at the New Road Recreation Ground. 
There'll be live music from a number of bands including Soberton Strummers, Swanmore Wind Band and Swanmore College of Technology Jazz Band. 
There will also be classic cars and bikes on display, plus, over 40 stalls, coconut shy, beat-the-goalie, games and rides
Entry costs £2. 

BISHOP'S Waltham Gardening Club's open annual show will be held next month. 
The event, at Jubilee Hall, on Saturday, July 13 will be the club's 66th. 
They usually welcome entries in more than 100 classes. 
The classes include those for children as well as adults; novices and experienced growers; fruit and vegetables; cut flowers and plants; boxes, tubs, containers; photography, artwork and flower arranging; wine, preserves, cookery and many more. 
All entries free to BWGC members and children; non-member entry 50p per exhibit.
The hall will be open at 8am for exhibitors, and staging of exhibits must be completed by 10am when the hall will be cleared for the judges. 
Admission is at 1.45pm and entry costs £1 for adults. 

BISHOP'S Waltham Gardening Club's June meeting will be on the gardens of Russia.
It will be held on Wednesday, June 26 at Bishop's Waltham Junior School, with doors open at 6.45pm. 
The speaker will be John Baker and he will talk about Russia's ever-changing scenery and its flora.

KNOWLE Village Hall is hosting an event called The Lady and The Tramp Summer Ball.
It will be held on Saturday, July 6 from 7pm and is raising money for the Wickham Twinning Association. 
Tickets cost £20 and organisers are encouraging people to dress as a lady, a tramp or both. 
There will be a meat raffle, live music and a fish and chip supper.
