HAMPSHIRE County Council wants to remind residents that help is available for those suffering domestic abuse.

Research has shown that the number of incidents of domestic abuse and violence increases during major sporting events.

The figures indicate that incidents increase by more than a third when England loses a game and by around a quarter when they win.

With the UEFA European Championship underway, the council is reminding everyone that there is help available for people who may be subjected to domestic abuse and for those needing support to reduce their abusive behaviours.
