Dates are fast approaching by which people have to either apply to get on the electoral register (if they are not already registered) or to get a postal or proxy vote if they are away.

The front page of the Test Valley Borough Council website is very helpful in that respect, but the deadline to get on the electoral roll is next Tuesday, June 18, the postal vote application deadline is a day later on the 19th and if you need to appoint a proxy to vote for you the last date is June 26.

Undoubtedly the highlight of my week was on Wednesday, when I met the most gorgeous Guide Dog in training, Rosie, at a community coffee morning in Grateley.  It is incredible to hear about the investment that goes into breeding and training these dogs and I was also at an event in Westminster a few weeks ago listening to people with visual impairment about the difference their dogs make to them.

I also popped in to the Jane Scarth House Thank You event on Wednesday afternoon. Jane’s charity shop in Latimer Street provides between 50-60 per cent of their annual running costs, and sells a wide range of items. It is also a brilliant place to donate your high quality preloved items, which will effectively see them transformed into high quality cancer support services.

Last weekend saw the sunshine at village fetes in Longparish and Wherwell, and a lucky go on the raffle for me.  I am very much looking forward to using a voucher at the Mayfly, one of the most beautiful spots in the constituency, maybe even an escape from the election campaign for just one night.
