SOUTH Wonston Village Cinema is showing the acclaimed film ‘The Holdovers’ on Saturday, June 15 in the village hall. There will be a matinee at 2.30pm and an evening performance at 7.30pm.

Entrance costs £5 payable in cash on the door, and refreshments are available for sale in the interval between a short film and the main feature.

THE next Micheldever Village Lunch will be held at Northbrook Hall, Duke Street, on Wednesday, July 3.

The cost is £5.00 for a freshly prepared 2-course lunch, a glass of sherry or wine and coffee. It is a very sociable occasion where old friends meet and new friends are made.

Transport can be provided for those without their own vehicles or for the less mobile of attendees.

TICKETS are still available for the new Micheldever Variety Players show, Agatha Christie’s “A Murder is Announced”. The play will be at Northbrook Hall from Wednesday, July 3 to Saturday, July 6 with two performances on Saturday.

Tickets cost £13, or £10 for concessions, and can be purchased online or from the Micheldever Village Shop.

SOUTH Wonston Parish Council is continuing to hold its community café every Monday at the South Wonston Pavilion.

The café is held from 12.30pm to 2.30pm and is open to all. Everyone is invited to come along to socialise and meet new people, with tea, coffee, biscuits, soup and more available for free.

THE next Wonston Community Café will take place on Wednesday, June 19th from 9.30am to 12noon at The Victoria Hall, Sutton Scotney.

It will be raising funds for Scots Tots, the Sutton Scotney Baby and Toddler group running every Friday in term time 10am-11.30am at the Victoria Hall.

All cakes are homemade, and parking is free. The café is cash only.

SOUTH Wonston Primary School PTA is holding a car boot sale on Saturday, June 22.

Sellers can arrive from 9.30am, with it costing £7.50 for car pitches and £10 for van pitches. Buyers can arrive from 10.30am – entry costs 50p per person, with under 16’s entering free. To book a pitch, email southwonstonpta@gmail.com.

THE South Wonston Parish Council Summer Fete will take place on Sunday, July 7.

Kicking off at 12noon, there will be a range of attractions, including a circus, dog show, music, llamas, food and drink, stalls, a bouncy castle and more.

MICHELDEVER Village Fete will return on Saturday, July 20.

This year the fete will be at the Lord Rank Playing Field, raising funds for the maintenance of St Mary’s Church, Micheldever. There will be a variety of stalls, including bric a brac, plants, tombola, spirits, children’s games, books, bottles and more. There will also be a tea tent and a BBQ.

The arena will feature a dog show as well as traditional family competitions.

SOUTH Wonston Parish Council and Cotswold Archaeology is holding an open day on Saturday, June 15 from 1pm to 4pm.

Taking place at the long barrow, Goldfinch Way, visitors will be able to see the new display board for the Neolithic long barrow and learn more about local heritage. They will also be able to handle and view real prehistoric artefacts, make a Neolithic-style pot and more.
