The Somborne Sisterhood held a talk and demonstration by a local flower company set up only three years ago.

The group was given a talk by Featherstone Flowers, and business owners, Katie and Jess. The duo have a three-acre field and 15th-century tithe barn near Nether Wallop and grow only seasonal British flowers using sustainable methods.

They told the sisterhood about the values behind their work, such as no-dig methods, reusable materials and avoiding plastic.

Whilst Jess talked about the flowers and foliage that they grow and the problems they have encountered such as mice and bad weather, Katie created a beautiful urn arrangement with three layers of chicken wire inside for support rather than floral foam.

Somborne Sisterhood member Sheila Nevines said: "We were taught how to condition our freshly picked flowers from our gardens and the importance of using a clean vase and regularly changing the water.

"They then donated a bouquet to our raffle. It was a joy to experience their shared passion of flower farming for the evening."
